I had a professor in college who used to start every day by making us write for the first 10 minutes of class. No rules or guidelines, just throw down the random thoughts that whirled in your head. Spilling ink, making random doodles, and exploring my thoughts, I would often find from this exercise, a whole new spark of creativity... This is my spilled ink.

//AVALIIS :: RETREAT
It has been 6 months now since I have moved to Nashville. A land of cowboy boots, incredibly humid summers, and country music. However Nashville also houses some of the most genuine and friendly people my path has ever led me to. I find an over abundant sense of creativity in this city - both musically and artistically.
Creativity and the arts ARE Nashville.
To move here to Nashville, I stepped down from an amazing design job working with an amazing group of guys - in an amazing studio in the center of San Diego’s very only Gaslamp District. An agency that you work your whole career hoping to find. I left this to continue to pursue music in Nashville. Which in the process really made me question if leaving such an amazing job was complete lunacy or imperative to being true to myself.. Learning the lesson, and living the lesson of following your passions can truly be difficult AND confusing at times - however, what I have learned, is no matter if the decision is right or not, if you place yourself in a vulnerable state in which you can examine yourself, you will begin to learn more about what is truly important to you - thus, making every decision you ever make an unorthodox triumph.
With this all being said - 6 months after making the decision to leave that job and San Diego - Tomorrow I will be jumping on a plane for the 1st //AVALIIS :: Retreat taking place back San Diego, CA. I am truly excited for this trip - to head back to the very place that //AVALIIS was created - to gain perspective and plot out the direction of what //AVALIIS will be heading in, in the start of the new year.
